Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Photographer

Hello, fellow Fresh Focus aficionados! Today, I'm excited to pull back the curtain and take you on a journey into a day in my life as a dedicated portrait photographer (when I’m not capturing your amazing lives).

The Morning: As I awake to the ever-soothing melody of my kitten screaming at the top of her lungs for breakfast (a daily tradition), it is time to start my day. Normally I will creep out of bed and down the stairs to feed the ungratefuls.

For breakfast, I usually stick to a protein-focused meal such as eggs or kielbasa with spinach, chili salmon, or even garlic shrimp stir-fry. If I feel like it, I will make myself an oat milk matcha latte, or a probiotic lemonade drink.

Workout: If all has gone according to plan, I will then head upstairs to get dressed in exercise apparel. I have a calisthenics routine I have been doing for the last month or so. If I have an active rest day, I will substitute my workout for going on a walk, bike ride, or paddle boarding.

Mid-Morning Crunch: After I have finished my workout, it’s time to start the day! This is when I either run out for errands, or hop on the computer and touch bases with inquiries.

This is usually when I’ll also reach out to upcoming shoots, and add to my ever-expanding portfolio of resources and photoshoot inspo.

Inspiration and Creativity: Of course, no day is complete without the sporadic trip through Instagram to see what is trending in the world of photography. Usually I try to limit my time on Instagram, as it very easily becomes a distraction rather than a tool.

I also have a few websites I use to plan my content, edit shoots, and create moodboards.

Personal Growth: On top of my bullet journal, I also enjoy a few apps to help me be a better person (in my opinion, at least LOL). I’m currently super into Duolingo, and improving upon my french.

Wellbeing: If I didn’t workout in the morning, this is usually my time to get out and get some (hopefully) sun. If the weather isn’t too hot I love riding on my bike around the Chelmsford/Acton area.

Dinner: For dinner, I’ll usually rotate between meals of Italian, Mexican, and Asian origin/inspo. I find cooking to be super relaxing and meditative, and would love to be a personal chef/cook in another life.

Night Reset: After dinner and a shower, I like to relax and think about what opportunities tomorrow will bring. This could look like me watching a show with my boyfriend (unarguably the best person ever, and I’m not bias at ALL haha), or on my computer googling stuff.

As much as I love photography and my amazing clients, days like these where I can reset and recharge are essential to staying bright and perky (and ultimately avoiding burnout). My journey as a lifestyle photographer enthusiast is a continuous one, fueled by passion and enriched by the stories and people I discover along the way.

Until next time,
