Fight the inflation: how couples are tying the knot in 2024
We’ve all seen it, wedding vendors continue to rise in price with no end in sight. On the one hand, prices tend to rise each year as professionals raise the quality of their work. On the other hand, the cost of living has also gone up, leaving many couples in the dust. This has left many engaged couples scrambling, trying to find (impossibly) vendors that match their standard of quality, while also fitting in their budget.
We see the same result: couples end up settling for a vendor in their budget, and when the quality of work doesn’t live up to their expectations, they’re left with less than adequate imagery from their once in a lifetime day. And then they post this disappointment on Facebook, but it never makes up for all those lost memories.
So what can you do? According to a 2019 study, 76% of couples wish they’d done things differently for their wedding. My personal suggestion: elope with a local reception after your honeymoon!
First, elope for you ceremony with the nearest and dearest of family and friends. You’ll be able to go just about anywhere, and for so much cheaper than a traditional wedding venue. The pictures will speak for themselves, and your wallet will thank you. The money you save can go towards your honeymoon, or future together.
Then, when you come back from your amazing honeymoon, plan a reception at a party venue, and you’ll still be able to celebrate with all the special people in your life. In the end, you can focus on getting the vendors that really matter to you, and will still save thousands of dollars.
I know this lifestyle choice isn’t for everyone, but if prices are getting unattainable for you newly engaged couples, just remember there are still options that will make you feel special and loved on your day.
P.s. an intimate AirBNB for your elopement adds a special touch.
